Describe your involvement with L-SETAC:

I have been involved with SETAC-Laurentian since August 2022, serving on the Board of Directors as Co-Secretary and Student Representative for two years. I am now part of the SETAC Laurentian Annual General Meeting Committee. Being part of this community has been an incredible experience—the people, the welcoming environment, and the organization’s ability to adapt to global events while recognizing our role in the larger environmental and toxicology landscape. I feel truly honored to be part of such an exceptional group.

For anyone looking to learn how to set up a conference, navigate the different stages and steps involved, and build a strong online and in-person regional community, SETAC-Laurentian is the best place to start. It provides an incredible opportunity to connect with professionals across private industry, government, and academia, bridging the gaps between different sectors. My experience with SETAC-L has been invaluable, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to expand their network and gain hands-on experience in organizing impactful scientific events.

Biography:

I began my research journey during my undergraduate studies as a Biology & Pharmacology student at McMaster University, where I completed co-op placements in R&D in Neuroscience at Merck and as an Innovation & Commercialization Consultant.

I recently defended my PhD in Physiology & Pharmacology at McMaster University, where my research focused on toxicology and environmental exposures, validating an stress-induced biomarker across mammals, birds, and fish. Alongside this work, I pursued side projects in women’s health and reproductive dysfunction and became a fellow with GROWW, which is now the focus of my joint post-doctoral research at Yale School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania. My current research specializes in organoid modeling and the epigenetic transmission of inheritance.

I am also a fellow at LongeVC, an early-stage VC investing in longevity research and biotech companies. My work integrates biomarker discovery, experimental modeling, and translational research to advance our understanding of environmental and reproductive health.
