Save the date for the Laurentian SETAC Annual General Meeting and Short Course!

Greetings Laurentian SETAC,

This is a friendly notice to mark your calendars for the Laurentian SETAC 25th Annual General Meeting and Conference on June 5, 2020, and the corresponding Short Course on June 4, 2020. Both events will be held at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington, Ontario. The Laurentian SETAC AGM is a great opportunity to present new research and network with colleagues working in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry fields throughout Ontario. This year’s thrilling short course hosted by Dr. Brittney G. Borowiec will offer the opportunity to dive into science communication. Join us for a half-day session or complete both parts over the course of a day.

Greetings Laurentian SETAC,

Join us for our first L-SETAC Virtual Student Event!

This year, our Best Presentation Awards are going virtual! The top two presenters will win a free registration to the SETAC North America Virtual Meeting (SCICON2, formerly known as SETAC NA, Fort Worth, TEXAS), and a one year SETAC NA student membership. Students whose area of research focuses on Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and who are members of Laurentian SETAC (or who would like to become members) are invited to submit an abstract by August 31 2020 at midnight EST.


Title: L-SETAC Virtual Student Event

Speaker: Students whose area of research focuses on Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry

When: September 9 2020, 6:30 p.m. EST*

Abstract submission deadline: August 31 2020, midnight EST

Where: ONLINE via Zoom! (Meeting details will be provided closer to the event)

Cost: Free! But please consider donating to the Laurentian SETAC student fund.
*Presentations will tentatively be 15 minutes in length but are subject to change based on the number of submissions we are able to accomodate. 

Eligibility criteria:
– Project must be in an area of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry
– Students must be (or become) a member of Laurentian SETAC prior to abstract submission.
– Students must be enrolled at, or have conducted their research at, a post-secondary institution within the L-SETAC geographic area

Why participate?
–  Winning students will become SETAC North America members (prize includes one-year membership)
–  Winning students are expected to present their research at the SETAC North America SCICOM meeting

How to submit your abstract:
– Submit your abstract by August 31 2020, at midnight EST.
– Please follow the guidelines in the abstract outline.
